Problem Sending ScriptableObjects over RPC

I'm trying to set up a very very simple networking system for a project of mine. Using RPC's in Unity's new networking system, the clients make alterations to a GameState ScriptableObject , then send it to the server for it to make more alterations, then finally is returned to the client to repeat the process.
Sending to the host works fine, but whenever I send it or anything back to the client, it is inexplicably null. I don't get any errors or warnings whatsoever, so any help would be...
