First of do you know any RTS game that does not use the typical lockstep network model.
For example the client side prediction approach.
I wonder cause from what I understand the downside of lockstep is you can't join a game late and one lagger spoils the game for all (got any more do share). What would I have to give up to have the feature to join a RTS game at any time. Would I have to downsize the population limit because of the amount of commands or you think it wouldn't be that bad?...
